Bouchon Description
Many a restaurant that has claimed to offer customers a genuine French dining experience has ended up being a pale imitation of the real thing. If you still haven't been to one or sampled dishes that have come out of that wonderful land, head straight to pretty little Bouchon that can be found opposite the Hexham swimming pool in Gilesgate, and presents customers with a chance to enjoy delicious food in the cosy interiors of a Grade II listed building.
The kitchen has the self confidence and skill to create simple and flavoursome dishes such as French onion soup, assiette of charcuterie or crispy mussel galette for starters. Main courses could comprise coq au vin with pomme puree; red wine monkfish matelote, and Roquefort cheese soufflé with leek fondue.
Griottine clafoutis with pistachio ice cream jostles with apple tarte tatin and crème caramel in the desserts section. Sunday lunches are served from 12 until 3pm.

We have been regulars at Bouchon in Hexham since it opened last year, and we've enjoyed it every time. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys food. Keep up the hard work, and well done for your entry in the Good Food Guide

Eating there is a truly delightful experience - a genuinely French atmosphere, impressively friendly, expert service and top-notch food, without breaking the bank. In my opinion, many purportedly 'French' restaurants in England are nothing of the sort. This one definitely is and I have no hesitation in making repeat visits.
