Boxwood Cafe at The Berkeley Description
Opened in May 2003, Boxwood Café is Gordon Ramsay's - the man with a mission to run fine dining out in London for the Savoy Group - take on an upscale New York-style café with an emphasis on a more relaxed approach to dining and service. With head chef Stuart Gillies (ex-Daniel's in New York and Le Caprice), Gordon Ramsay presents a very different menu in stylish surroundings designed by Barbara Barry, the acclaimed Californian designer.
A la carte selections include starters of baked Orkney scallops with hedgerow garlic butter or glazed Berkshire pork belly with a pickled turnip and watercress salad. Main courses run a wide gamut of choices, including some delicious options for vegetarians, and could include glazed Berkshire pork belly with a pickled turnip and watercress salad. Desserts, a passion of any Gordon Ramsay menu, display raspberry and custard fool with ginger snap biscuits and roasted peach. Matt, Essex (6 February 2009)
My girlfriend and I ate there two Fridays ago in celebration of my birthday and our anniversary, and we were both more than impressed. I will say from the outset that we did encounter one waitress who we struggled to understand on an occasion due to her Eastern European accent, but that difficulty was accentuated more by the background music and the fantastic atmosphere that filled the room. The food was lovely, and the accompanying wine was excellent, I even had my choice of red subtly challenged by the wine waiter, not sommelier, who informed me of his choice for the dish I was eating, I did welcome this but didn't change my mind, I found it a really helpful gesture nonetheless. After our starters and main courses, the desserts were presented to us with ‘Happy Birthday’ and ‘Happy Anniversary’ written in chocolate around the edges of our respective plates, which was a thoughtful touch. The whole meal was quite expensive admittedly, but celebrations such as those should be remembered forever, this is one experience neither I nor my girlfriend will ever forget, I can't wait for the next time.

I completely disagree with the fact they do not cater for vegetarians - the ravioli of Italian winter squash was to die for as was the starter of beetroot salad. I found the service to be excellent, attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a most enjoyable lunch and I will definitely be going back.
