Brady's Description
A lesson in the way good fish and chips should be cooked, this family run restaurant, which opened in 1991, offers the option to have the fish grilled. Dishes other than fish are served, but the emphasis is definitely on fish. If you don't fancy the traditional seaside favourite, try the potted shrimps, or swordfish. Brady's is excellent value.
Most tourists seem to think that London is full of fish and chip shops, but, rather like Dick Van Dyke's amazing performance as a chimney sweep in Mary Poppins, things ain't always what you expect them to be.
This is one of the finest - and there really aren't many of them - fish and chip places in London, excellent quality and value for money fresh fish in fairly bare surroundings, also justly famed for their treacle tart and apple crumble, served with custard, of course!
Not just the normal fish such as cod, haddock and plaice, but more adventurous dishes like rollmop herrings, wonderful nutty tasting potted shrimps in mace butter with brown toast, mackerel pate, and even excellent salmon fishcakes.
Everything is fresh, so you have a choice between the regular dishes and specials from a blackboard, but you only get chips as an accompaniment, though a nice touch is that they serve an array - from aoli to ketchup - of sauces in little pots with the fish.
Out of the way for tourists, this is a real London gem, and if you enjoy good quality fish, it will be an experience to savour.
It has been nominated three times for best budget meal by Time Out Eating and Drinking Awards, and, over the years, it has frequently earned good reviews in the press.

Your Reviews of Brady's
D. Wieloch (14 December 2006)
I love Brady's. The fish is fresh and perfectly cooked, the chips are good, you can have as much dressing as you like (chosen from a brilliant range of home-made sauces), and they do wine too! They have a good range of starters and main courses, with plenty of grilled fish as well as all the fried stuff.
Their only weakness is in the pudding course but as I don't have a sweet tooth that may be just me. Service is always good and it fills up quickly. It's nice to see families coming there for a meal - and the children are always perfectly behaved too.
What more can anyone ask? A cushion on the chair perhaps but otherwise this is a first class plaice to eat (sorry).

Brady's receives the highest praise available. Put simply it is the only place in London where a Yorkshireman can get an acceptable plate of fish'n'chips; and there is no higher praise than that!
