Brady's Description
An object lesson in the way good fish and chips should be cooked, this owner-run restaurant, which opened in 1991, offers the option to have your fish grilled. And if you are looking for a change from this traditional seaside favourite at Brady's, try the brill or swordfish, also excellent value.
This is one of the finest - and there really aren't all that many of them - fish and chip places in London, excellent quality fish in fairly bare surroundings, also justly famed for their treacle tart and apple crumble, served with custard. Nor is it just the normal fish such as cod, haddock and plaice, there are more adventurous dishes like rollmop herrings, wonderful nutty tasting potted shrimps in mace butter with brown toast, mackerel pâté, and even salmon fishcakes.
Everything is fresh, so you have a choice between regular dishes and specials from a blackboard with chips as an accompaniment, although a nice touch is that they serve an array - from aoli to ketchup - of sauces in little pots with the fish.
Fixed Lunch
- £4.95 (fish & chips plus salad or mushy peas), weekdays, £14.95 (3 courses), Sun
Your Reviews of Brady's
D. Wieloch (14 December 2006)
I love Brady's. The fish is fresh and perfectly cooked, the chips are good, you can have as much dressing as you like (chosen from a brilliant range of home-made sauces), and they do wine too! They have a good range of starters and main courses, with plenty of grilled fish as well as all the fried stuff.
Their only weakness is in the pudding course but as I don't have a sweet tooth that may be just me. Service is always good and it fills up quickly. It's nice to see families coming there for a meal - and the children are always perfectly behaved too.
What more can anyone ask? A cushion on the chair perhaps but otherwise this is a first class plaice to eat (sorry).

Brady's receives the highest praise available. Put simply it is the only place in London where a Yorkshireman can get an acceptable plate of fish'n'chips; and there is no higher praise than that!
