Brasserie Black Door Description
Brasserie Black Door is a hundred seater restaurant located in the Biscuit Factory art gallery in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is owned by award-winning chef David Kennedy along with David Ladd who set up their sister restaurant, The Black Door, in 1994; it won the coveted Harden's Remy Award for Excellence 2006.
The Brasserie has a more relaxed feel with a contemporary mix of light wooden floors, soft furnishings and warm colours to combine style and comfort. The menu concentrates on fresh, local produce and there is a strong focus on a selection of grilled meats and steaks with a healthy eating emphasis.
You will find dishes including beignets of salt cod, tomato confit, olive oil and crisp sage and terrine of slow-cooked duck, garlic sausage and fine beans and for mains, skate wing, fennel and onion stew, thyme and black olives or braised rare breed pork, white beans and fondant potatoes. For desserts, dishes include rhubarb and almond tartin and Devonshire clotted cream or crème fraiche pannacotta with blood orange marmalade.
Brasserie Black Door is responsible for the catering requirements of the corporate functions and private parties at the Biscuit Factory which has gallery space and function room for up to five hundred people. There is also a private dining room for up to twenty alongside the restaurant.
The Brasserie is open for lunch from twelve until two and dinner seven to ten Monday to Saturday, and for Sunday lunch.

Your Reviews of Brasserie Black Door
Mary Hill (8 June 2009)
This is a superb restaurant, one of the best we have eaten in and we have eaten everywhere. The food was sublime and the room most attractive. The staff were exceptional, friendly, warm and professional. When my husband realised that, as usual, he had forgotten his glasses and I would have to drone through the menu to him, the staff provided a pair for him - they keep a bunch behind the bar, cheap readers but just the job! It's just a bit off the beaten track in Newcastle and people might be tempted to go elsewhere - they would be missing out.
