One of the greatest pleasures in life for celebrity chef Raymond Blanc is sharing a good meal with family and friends. He achieves this through Brasserie Blanc, where his team take great joy in serving authentic French cuisine in a modern, brasserie atmosphere. All their dishes use the finest ingredients, sustainable freedom foods, free range and natural or wild produce.
With six outlets, the brasserie retains the individuality of each of the locations, while maintaining a uniform standard of food and service. The menu has several signature dishes like Maman Blanc's miscellany of salads, pumpkin and kirsch risotto and Burgundy snails in garlic herb butter.
Some interesting mains are Toulouse sausages, smooth mash and onion gravy, Aberdeenshire rump steak and chips, Dutch calves liver served with smoked bacon and of course, Raymond's crab and salmon fishcake with butter sauce. There is a healthy selection of vegetables and salads - cauliflower gratin, as well as rocket and parmesan salad.
The wine list is French in concept, but includes new world wines and offers over forty-five varieties, including the house wine, ensuring there is something for everyone. In addition to a range of French cheeses selected by the Premier Cheese Company and homemade ice creams, one could also settle on chocolate and hazelnut delice or Blanc's blackberry and apple crumble to end the meal on a sweet note.

We went there for lunch. Not a massive choice, but great service and well presented dishes with appropriate sized portions. We didn’t eat off the fixed price menu. The wine was very reasonably priced and good, and we opted not to have the glasses topped up as we had had an excellent martini as an aperitif. I thought it was good enough to leave a large tip, and I'm looking forward to going there again.

What a disappointment. I went to Brasserie Blanc with seven friends for a girly night out and we were really looking forward to it. I found the menu limited, particularly if you are dining with vegetarians, however, I was looking forward to my starter of snails - disappointed. The snails were not served in their shells and had a rubbery texture. I question whether these were actually frozen. Now on to the main course, I had to ask the waitress whether the portion I had been served was a starter or main course and subsequently left hungry after scoffing my salad, which was a ball of rocket, in about five minutes flat. Three of my friends ordered the marinated fish and were again disappointed with the miniscule starter sized portions. I can compliment the staff on deducting the three fish dishes from the bill; however, they were not willing to deduct the inclusive 10% service charge - appalling. Overall we were unhappy and left feeling hungry and ripped off.
