My husband and I visited Brasserie Ninety Nine last Friday. I was just looking for somewhere good to eat, and by chance found this in yellow pages. Once you find it, it is worth the hunt - it is on an industrial estate in the middle of Wakefield and does take some searching out. Having said that the service was really good although we were a little disconcerted at being seated next to the only occupied table in the restaurant, we did eat rather early. However, they were lovely people and we ended up talking to them throughout our meals.
The food was delicious, prawn and ginger rissotto and pate for starters. I loved the risotto, but my husband found the pâté ordinary. We decided on the cote du bouef for our main course. That was not the intention, but the menu on the internet has a selection of steaks available, this was not the case when we arrived and my better half loves his beef. So I sacrificed my love of fish for him. It was perfectly cooked, served with French fries, onion rings and béarnaise sauce. Again it was delicious. The dessert was chocolate voodoo cake, not living up to its name apart from shards of sugar sticking into a dark chocolate cake. But it was nice nonetheless. My tarte tatin was lovely. After coffee and a Baileys, we were ready for home. Dinner for two with just one glass of wine came to £73. So fairly pricey but it was not too bad. The service was good but nothing special. My choice of food was delicious, and my husband’s was just okay. It all has to do with choices.
After eating at Truffles in Kippax and the Cow Shed in Wakefield over the past two or three weeks, we couldn't help but compare and for restaurants costing about the same, Truffles was the favourite with the Cow Shed, second and Brasserie 99, third.

Found this place following a business meeting on Trinity Business Park. Even though it was just a quick business lunch the quality of food and service was impeccable yet unpretentious. The friendly waitress informed me that the business had recently changed hands and a new and exciting menu was being developed. I will certainly be back to try it when I'm next in the area.
