Brasserie Roux
Sofitel St James, 6 Waterloo Place, London, SW1Y 4AN
Which of Cox and Kings Bank's customers in the late 20th century would have dreamed that in a few years he would be dining in the splendid former double-height banking hall? It is named after the great chef, Albert Roux, who personally supervises Brasserie Roux - you will see him in the Brasserie weekly checking the breakfast buffet, discussing matters with the chef and inspecting the kitchen. It has its own entrance on the ground floor, and dark greens and reds against a background of buttercup yellow spells out the gastronomic gaiety of honest brasserie cuisine. In January 2005 Michelin awarded Brasserie Roux the Bib Gourmand. The main menu might start with French onion soup or chicken liver mousse.Which of Cox and Kings Bank's customers in the late 20th century would have dreamed that in a few years he would be dining in the splendid former double-height banking hall? Amongst the pasta and risotto look for crab spaghetti, before moving on to the fish course where lemon sole on the bone is a constant favourite. The big moment comes with the French brasserie classics where grilled plaice and shin of beef with oxtail and green bacon vie for attention.

REVIEWS OF Brasserie Roux
Gordon (28 March 2009)
I had the pre-theatre deal which was good value. The starters were simply cold meat on a plate and the main course was spoilt by the chicken by very dry and the rice completely over micro-waved to bird seed. Dessert - a superb chocolate combination. The bill was spoilt by being charged £6 for a tiny Kronenburg. You may say London prices but you can get a pint of Samuel Smiths for £2 only 150 metres away.
Dimple (24 February 2009)
Out of curiosity my friends and I had decided to eat in the Brasserie Roux after reading positive feedback for their pre-theatre offer. I would really say that it was very good value for money. The ambience was perfect, service was attentive but not intrusive and the food was wonderful; I cannot find any reason why we shouldn't come back again.
