Bristol City Café
Temple Way, Bristol, BS1 6BF
Located within the Mint Hotel, the Bristol City Café overlooks Bristol's beautiful temple gardens, and is suitably smart and relaxing, with warm colours and an air of business about it that is hardly surprising considering its location in the city centre. The modern British a la carte is reassuringly recognisable and is tune with seasons, whilst the market menu changes twice a week; the kitchen team also places much emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Start with a duck ballotine with rhubarb chutney and gingerbread, or gin and sloe berry cured Loch Duart salmon with beetroot jelly, dill and English radish. Main courses are equally interesting, headed by roast lamb neck fillet and braised shoulder shepherd's pie, or crispy belly of pork with lentils and Morteaux Fume sausages.Located within the Mint Hotel, the Bristol City Café overlooks Bristol's beautiful temple gardens, and is suitably smart and relaxing, with warm colours and an air of business about it that is hardly surprising considering its location in the city centre. REVIEWS OF Bristol City Café
TraceyH (13 August 2007)
My husband and I have had dinner at City Inn three times in the last year or so, and have relished each and every meal we have had there. If you judge a restaurant by its plentiful portions then this probably isn't the place for you, but if you enjoy a gourmet experience without totally breaking the bank then this place is a must.
The service was impeccable-very attentive, prompt and friendly, and ready to give recommendations if you're not sure about what to order. The menu itself is always changing but it's always varied and leaves me with my mouth watering and unsure about which delicious-sounding dish I should go for. Neither my husband nor I have ever been disappointed with our meals there-the food was beautifully prepared and presented. And the combination of flavours in each dish has always been spot-on. I particularly enjoyed the desserts as they were so creatively presented, it tasted like heaven and you could be sure you'll not come across anything similar anywhere else!
