Browns Restaurant and Pie Shop Description
The family-run Browns Restaurant and Pie Shop pleases numerous customers each day with its good food and wine. The well-established Browns is a friendly and welcoming place to be, thanks to the efforts of owners Allan Gill, wife Chris, and their family.
For the devout, the cathedral buffs and other parties there could be few better stops as they leave Lincoln Cathedral than Browns.
Spend time in the airy restaurant or head to the rustic and romantic cellar and feast on a range of tasty dishes. Two and three-course specials as well as a choice of main courses and desserts are offered at lunchtime and early in the evening.
Needless to say pies such as the steak and kidney are the speciality and they are very, very good. Other choices include Yorkshire pudding stuffed with prawns; Glasgow haggis, and pies of local wild rabbit, lamb, cheese, fish, and tenderloin of pork with local honey, steaks, and chefs' specials of roast sweet pepper and rocket risotto, and seared venison loin on sweet potato puree with redcurrant jus.

We were visiting Lincoln from London; we like to eat out and were very impressed with Browns. The speed the order was taken, the time between the courses and of course the quality and price of the food. The portions were just the right size, the members of staff were fabulous and the atmosphere was lovely. We enjoyed three wonderful courses for just under £10 each and would not hesitate to go again.

I was in Lincoln last week and called in for a quick lunch as I was on a tight schedule. The staff very kindly understood this and my order was taken and served in a very short time. The steak and kidney pie was the best I have tasted in many a year - large tender chunks of steak with plenty of lovely kidney in a rich gravy. Lovely golden pastry and well prepared vegetables. I envy the residents of Lincoln.
