Budokan - City

For those who may think they are becoming jaded with regular trips to some of our well-loved and adopted cuisines, an outing to Budokan could well provide the answer. Describing itself as Asian, Budokan probes the culinary aspirations of Indonesia, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, to name but some, and the result is a balance of flavours, nutrition and value that is challenging in itself.

In an area of cuisine where ingredients are viewed with particular care by the wise, special care is exercised at Budokan, and no GM materials are used. They also offer an Asian street food menu, monitoring on vegetable and tofu, chicken, pork or prawn. A rapid refuel menu operates at lunchtime and early evening with choice of three courses at £6.50 under the headings of sushi, sides and rice and noodles.

Amongst the Budokan classics are Singapore laska, a kind of Asian chowder made with seafood, coconut and thin rice noodles, and chilli tiger prawns, wok-fried tiger prawns in a sweet and spicy fresh chilli sauce. A Budokan bento box offers a selection of sushi, noodles, tori no karage, salad and miso soup. So all in all Budokan adds up to very good news, no matter what sort of meal you want within their breadth of cuisine. Service is cheerful and efficient.
