Bugle, The

The Bugle is at the heart of village life with its charming waterside location and this Grade II listed building has not entirely relinquished its rustic roots as the interior features natural flagstone floors, exposed beams and brickwork, a solid oak bar and real open fires. For more private dining head to The Captain's Table, this can accommodate up to 12 diners comfortably.

The menu offers a good range of bar bites such as salt 'n' pepper squid and devilled whitebait, but for something a bit more substantial there's a Hampshire free range beef burger with relish and skinny chips; south coast day boat sole, and home cooked honey roasted ham, poached hen's eggs, parsley sauce and new potatoes. Locals also lineup on weekends for their popular Sunday roasts and light eaters could opt for the doorstop sandwiches, stuffed with smoked Lyburn cheese or salmon, or free range Hampshire skirt steak.

You could also dine al fresco at The Bugle, just shooting the breeze, under the heated umbrellas, taking in views of the river beyond.
