Burlton Inn Description
There's something delightfully radiant about the Burlton Inn just outside Shrewsbury on the Ellesmere road; it's quaint and rustic but not entirely conventional and it is this departure from tradition that makes it such a wonderful experience. Don't be mistaken, the oak beams, exposed brick walls and fireplace all create a lovely, homey atmosphere and the restaurant offers a good selection of French and modern British fare. So it's really the ideal spot to visit for a delicious meal with friends and family, either for a simple meal or even a quiet celebration.
Crisp Asian style pork belly comes with spiced king prawns, laced with apricot and ginger puree and cucumber salad with rock sugar dressing for a starter. A main course of pot roast cornfed chicken with roast shallots and baby vegetables along with sautéed new potatoes, Madeira and brown butter sauce is remarkable and for dessert, there's a silken dark chocolate mousse with kahulah syrup, hazelnuts and orange salad. Beers and real ales prevail although there's a good selection of fine wines and champagnes as well at this Michelin listed inn.
Your Reviews of Burlton Inn

I recently went for a meal at the Burlton Inn with my boyfriend and was very impressed with the whole experience. It was a lovely summer's evening so we sat on the patio which is overlooking a garden area that is apparently a work in progress. I was informed that there will be a fountain, herb garden and walk way there when it is finished, which will set the exterior of the pub off beautifully. The food was delicious, being vegetarian I can find it quite difficult eating out but there is fantastic choice on both the bar menu and the à la carte. I followed the asparagus starter with a warm butter bean salad in tomato fondue, both of which were lovely and the portion sizes were perfect. My boyfriend had the black pudding to start, followed by the Burlton burger which he said is the best burger he's ever had. The puddings were also delectable. We shared a very reasonably priced bottle of cabernet sauvignon - the only comment I would make regarding wine is that it would be nice to see some Rioja on the menu, it being my personal favourite. Overall, it was a brilliant evening in a delightful country pub. The staff are great too.
