Bush Inn, The

Described by many as a real taste of the old England, The Bush Inn is a 17th century, family-run pub in an enviable location in Alresford. There are big log fires where you could sit around and warm up with a pint of ale during winter and in summer there's nothing better than enjoying a seat in the charming riverside garden, watching the water flow past calmly.

The blackboard menu covers all bases from sandwiches to fillet steaks with special emphasis on local sourcing, so a typical meal might begin with a spinach and Roquefort salad or Thai fishcakes. This could be followed by a hearty venison casserole, grilled trout with hazelnut and coriander butter, or confit of duck with sweet potato chips. Desserts might be a mille-feuille of white and dark chocolate mousse with strawberries.

The interior is thoroughly rustic with wooden furniture and a plenty of knick knacks adorning the walls.
