Caberfeidh, The

Pronunciation of the name Caberfeidh may draw a pause, after all it's pronounced 'caber-fay' and is Gaelic for deer antler, but it's really all about some of the best food in the area with exceptional value for money. The views are an added bonus and if you've spent the day fishing at the Lochs, unwind with a glass of malt whilst watching the sunset.

Caberfeidh's location in the picturesque fishing village of Lochinver ensures that fish arrives so fresh off the boats, it almost wiggles. Large prawn tails tossed in garlic and chilli and locally caught haddock fillet topped with poached egg is a good way to start, followed by a meatier Highlander's rib topped with haggis and finished with a Drambuie sauce. The Loch Duart salmon is justifiably famous with steak cut clean from salmon, grilled and served with a homemade dill and caper Hollandaise sauce.

The bar has a good choice of beers, wine and spirits, and a regularly changing real ale list.
