Cabin, The Description
The Cabin is a pretty unique sort of place, one of those that should be visited at least once in every life. There is one sitting per night, and ideally you make up a table of like-minded souls, for reasons that will become apparent, and book in advance.
The meal is table d'hote and consists of three courses of imaginative quality Scottish food with more than a hint from across the Irish Sea. Frequent encounters are guinea fowl with parsnip puree and griddled salmon with seafood risotto and their soda bread is legendary.
Food on one side the other highlight of the evening is, by tradition, an extempore performance of operatic arias and the like by Wilma, the singing waitress, in which as the pace gathers momentum, you are more than likely to be asked to participate.
Your Reviews of Cabin, The
Jackie O'Connell County Wicklow Ireland (14 March 2008)
I has an incredible night at The Cabin. It is a throbbing vessel of life. Dennis Dwyer is one of the most gorgeous and funny people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting and he sings beautifully. His testament being that his staff have been with him for years. I had heard all this and went with a cynical eye only to be converted to being the Cabin's number one fan. The food was sublime! Five of us ordered different dishes and had a taste of each one, and each one was as good as the next. Being the night that was in it Dennis had a troupe of Irish dancers to entertain us briefly which was all very tongue in cheek. Then Dennis sang and that is when I fell in love with him. His Diva – Wilma, held court with her gold hand painted plastic microphone and wooed us all into the early hours. You think you've seen it all, heard it all, eaten it all - you are wrong! There is a planet of eccentricity, human generosity and wonderful food waiting for you to experience. Go believe me you will love it.

This is one of the great European experiences. You won't find anything like this anywhere else. The menu is wonderfully simple, and the food would match any French, Italian or British restaurant. The service is well paced to last the evening and the servers are professional, but the real stars are Wilma and Dennis. Don't expect a quiet night - you have to be there to understand-and you won't forget this great night out-ever. We will be going again and again.
