Cactus Blue

At the quietly fashionable end of the Fulham Road, sits an impressive glass-fronted building housing a stunning, two-floor restaurant and bar with seating for up to 140.

Cactus Blue boasts a separate conservatory-style area towards the rear of the building and a mezzanine dining level commanding a beautiful panorama of the bar.

Cactus Blue is a window into the cuisine and aesthetics of South West America and Mexico. It is the brain child of owner, Brian Stein, who was influenced by the refreshing simplicity and directness of the Native American culture and wanted to take this approach and inject it into the London Bar and Restaurant scene.

In partnership with a Native Indian Artist from Santa Fe, Brian created a bar and restaurant which successfully fuses the colours and tastes of South West America, a process which is manifest in both the cuisine: a melange of Creole, Cajun and Hispanix traditions, and the décor which features some arresting, primitive American artefacts, paintings and fabric.

These exotic, alien designs contrast with the modern, open-style form of the building and complement each other to create Cactus's unique ambience. The modern is represented by a magnificent under-lit marble bar and a breathtaking gem-studded chandelier, which illuminates the burnished copper of the mezzanine.

Cactus Blue is careful to avoid the memorabilia route and offers superb authentic South Western and contemporary American cuisine, under the guidance of their award-winning Head Chef.

The menu features dried and fresh chiles, tortillas-based dishes, prime grilled meats, and seafood. The food is pared down to a few ingredients and created by pan-frying, grilling and pickling, with piquancy provided by selected ethnic seasonings and fast yet simple cooking techniques.
