Cafe Coco

23 Cowley Road, Oxford, OX4 1HP

The somewhat quirky element of having a clown in a bathtub simply tots up the 'cool' quotient of this café that doubles up as a trendy cocktail bar in the evenings. Named after the clown, Café Coco is a study in contrasts where the eclectic and modish décor underscores the delectable dishes that you can savour there. Open early enough for breakfast, they offer delicious and hearty alternatives with bacon, Cumberland sausage, free range egg, black pudding, mushrooms, and tomatoes on a pizza base. A pleasant mix of Mediterranean and English cuisine results in dishes like roast fillet of sea bass with char grilled peppers, wilted chard, cashews and a lemon dressing or maybe the seared salmon with wasabi and garlic butter.

REVIEWS OF Cafe Coco

Florajojo (27 January 2011)

Hi, I've been going to Coco for ten years or so. I went away for a year, and now they have new staff and new specials. I was worried but it still has the same warmth. It is glamorous and homely and it still has a happy buzz. Banoffee pie hasn't changed and chorizo pizza is still the best. The staff are getting younger, aren't they? I also spotted the barman working since five years and gazza!

Marley (11 August 2008)

I have been using Cafe Coco as a second home for ten years and it is a good place to come home to. The cappuccinos are still better than anywhere else and the pizza prices don't seem to have gone up ever? It's still got pretty people but there are more kids in there now. The people who own it and the guys who run it are decent. Don't let the chains take over our world - use your local and keep it real.
