Cafe Garcia
246-250 Portobello Road, Notting Hill, London, W11 1LL
The day of the Tapas continues to spread, as well it might, given our present trends in eating. In Portobello, Café Garcia carries the banner for this new form of gourmet grazing with Iberian products in great profusion, from an incredible £1.50 a time. Of special note here is the Saula coffee from Barcelona, which beats most of what is on offer elsewhere in London. Nor are the Galician broth with ham and Asturian bean stew to be missed.Spanish

REVIEWS OF Cafe Garcia
Navid (28 September 2008)
My girlfriend and I have been to Garcia a few times. I have to say that it has been really nice, and the food was well done and the tapas were in good portions. The pollo al ajillo was really good and my girlfriend found the albóndigas very tasty. Okay, it’s never as good as in Spain, but is close. Beginners, please keep in mind it’s a tapas bar with a limited menu. So if you want a larger portion then just ask for it. Plus, the sweets are nice and very rich.
Karissa (13 July 2008)
I went there for lunch a few days ago with a colleague and both of us were so disappointed as we felt the food was bad and even the friendly service could not save it. We ordered a selection of tapas and I’m not fussy about food, but there was something unappetizing about each of them - the chicken in garlic and white wine was in fact two chicken wings with no meat on them. The potatoes were soggy with oil and cold, the salad, which cost nearly £5, was just Iceberg lettuce with shredded carrots and the meat balls looked and tasted like they were pre-packaged. The bill came up to £32 and we didn’t even drink anything alcoholic.
