Cafe Lowrey

33-35 The Broadway, Darras Hall Ponteland, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE20 9PW

Welcome to this informal café-style restaurant in a double-fronted shop conversion, located in comfortable green-belt surroundings with ample parking. The chef-owner, to whom one can only wish a long and happy stay, is Ian Lowrey. His aim here is to provide deliberately uncomplicated food, making the best use of the finest, local produce. The place specialises in a blend of traditional and contemporary so far as the menu is concerned. From cheddar cheese and spinach soufflé one could move to slow cooked confit of duck, lyonnaise potatoes, fine beans, rosemary and thyme jus. At Cafe Lowrey they know and appreciate the importance of creating a warm, relaxed and inviting environment where diners can really enjoy their food and know it is the best it can be.

REVIEWS OF Cafe Lowrey

Peter E (19 January 2011)

Cafe Lowery is certainly the "hidden" Jewel on the Darras Hall Estate ! The consistantly good food and attentive service cannot be bettered thanks to Ian and his team who are determined to make your visit not only pleasurable but memorable too. As a "foodie" who enjoys great food ( try the cheese and spinach souffle ! ) in a relaxed informal environment, then look no further as disappointment will most definitely be avoided and judging by the established patronage of "locals" and visitors from out of the area, then book in advance. Great place and worthy of a visit !

Jane Venus-Lyon (6 November 2007)

It’s my favourite bistro as the food and service are excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. The wine list is great and offers something for all tastes. The setting is also perfect. The place is quiet but in a great location, with plenty of parking space.
