Sitting pretty in the historic Railroad Square of San Luis Obispo is Café Roma, with a cosy and welcoming Tuscan décor. Opened in 1980 by Maria Rosa Rizzo and her late husband, Giuseppe, the café is in the vicinity of the wine regions of this county and quite naturally offers a list of wines from the local area along with the classics from Italy and the Napa Valley.

Café Roma presents the Rizzo family's Piedmontese recipes along with Lombard, Tuscan and Roman specialties. Choose from the toasted bruschetta with fresh tomato, basil and garlic or the steamed clams with white wine, saffron and red chillies, to start your dining experience. Indulge in a main course of veal scalloppini Marsala with assorted mushrooms or the grilled lamb chops 'Roma' with garlic, mint, rosemary and lemon zest, and conclude with a dessert of the classic crème brûlée or Corsican chocolate mousse.
