Candlewicks Restaurant can be found within The West Retford Hotel, an 18th century manor house that is surrounded by beautiful gardens yet close to the town centre and five minutes from the A1. The well-equipped retreat is a preferred destination for business conferences and weddings of locals and couples with families further north and south but is also popular because of its modern European restaurant.

Head Chef Bissmal Carim's passion shines through in seasonal à la carte dishes such as succulent kiln smoked salmon with prawns and a Marie rose dressing, and a feta cheese and sun blushed tomato salad. Mains of roast leg of lamb served with a minted roasting gravy, or baked Mediterranean vegetables in a pastry casing topped with goats' cheese and basil pesto rarely fail to please.
