Carlton Restaurant Description

The distinctive red brick facade marks this prominent landmark in the busy provincial market town of Workington. The Washington Central Hotel was originally built in 1982 and constant refurbishment has transformed it into the luxury hotel that it is today. The location couldn't be better; it's within walking distance of local shops, theatres and parks. If that isn't enough, the picturesque countryside, mountains and lakes are just a 10 minute drive away.

Armed with an AA Rosette, the Carlton Restaurant with its muted shades and wood panelling is a calming oasis for a peaceful meal. Savour the game terrine with plum and redcurrant chutney and crisp fried smoked haddock before moving on to a main course of seared Barbary duck breast with a fresh cherry brandy compote, and walnut crusted sea bass with roasted pancetta. Finish with an apple and cinnamon strudel with crème anglaise, or raspberry cheesecake.
