If you enjoy a really characterful building in the countryside where you are looked after and pampered by front of house and then enjoy a pleasantly imaginative and well-cooked meal with sensibly priced wines, possibly Viv - in the kitchen - and Cass might just have the answer for you.
Start with duck ham and game and pistachio sausage on celeriac remoulade, or Selsey crab and smoked salmon mousse on cucumber with pea shoots, crab and lime sauce, then indulge in fillet of pure breed beef with seared foie gras, or spiced belly of pork with crackling, Dijon puree, caramelised apples, buttered greens with pancetta, cider and honey jus. Keep some space in reserve for crème brûlée surprise with marinated strawberries, honeycomb, and tarragon.
Cassons location is a tactical tour de force, with Goodwood, Fontwell and Chichester Theatre located nearby.

A 'must visit' restaurant. We have driven past 'Cassons' so many times going to and from Chichester. Following our first visit we now realise what we have been missing out on. For top quality dining in a relaxed atmosphere at a value for money price, this is one that you must not pass by. We will be back.

We went to Cassons for the first time last Saturday for dinner - what a pleasure! The food was exquisite, the restaurant very relaxed with a lovely atmosphere and great service. As for the food, it was a real delight, a fantastic starter, roast suckling pig - beautifully presented and that melted in the mouth, and a dessert to die for. Seldom have I eaten anywhere as good as this. It's a great pity we don't live in the area or else dinner here would become a very regular event. You lucky people of Chichester! The chef here is truly a great artist.
