Catch 22

A recent addition to bar and eating out scene in Ipswich, Catch 22 is a friendly place with a stylish, elegant restaurant on the first floor, fully non-smoking, with a contemporary English menu, and a more casual bar downstairs.

Lunch is a lighter affair, and dishes on offer might include Thai-style crab cakes with a citrus dressing or crispy duck pancakes, spring onion and cucumber with hoi sin sauce, with either large or small portions, and mains such as wild mushroom tortellini or Char-grilled minute steak, served with a Parmesan salad and grilled tomatoes and chunky chips, with a range of door stop sandwiches on white or granary bread.

In the evening things get a bit more sophisticated and starters of tian of fresh water crayfish and prawns bound with citrus and ginger or smoked chicken and cream cheese parfait with a peppered mango dressing followed by mains such as rump of English lamb, crispy potatoes, puy lentils, spinach and red wine dressing or seared sea bass, olive oil mash, red pepper coulis, pesto oil.

Prices are sensible, the welcome is warm and they deserve to succeed.
