Caunton Beck

Caunton Village, Newark, NG23 6AB

With a quiet countryside setting and a deft makeover, Caunton Beck is a celebration of modern European and Pacific Rim cuisine in an area where one could anticipate customary pub food. They are open all day so you could pop in for a drink at the bar, head to the restaurant for a relaxed meal or catch a glimpse of the sun at the terrace. Twice baked smoked haddock and leek soufflé is a good way to start, or try the confit of belly pork with a parsnip and mustard seed puree. Main dishes might include British beef and Irish stout pie and pan-fried lamb's liver with crisp smoky bacon and onion. For desserts choose between a baked damson and sloe gin posset and chilled prune and Armagnac custard tart.

REVIEWS OF Caunton Beck

Mrs Jessop (8 January 2011)

We booked a lunch at Caunton Beck today to celebrate mother’s 95th and brother’s 55th joint birthdays. Really caring helpful staff, even for our four year old guest. Nothing too much trouble even to the addition of candles for the special cake we brought. Well done, we will meet up with you again, an hour from Eccleshall and forty-five minutes from Stamford.

Dessie (14 April 2008)

My family and I have eaten at Caunton Beck on a number of occasions and were never disappointed with the quality of the food, wine or general service. This is an excellent eatery and is refreshingly unpretentious. The pub and restaurant is homely and the menu, which consists of both set dishes and specials, is extensive and imaginative. It’s a pretty setting and nice to eat outside, if the weather permits.
