Cedar Tree Restaurant
69 Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1LQ
Cedar Tree is a valuable asset to Manchester city centre. Not only is it unique to the area, it also offers exceptionally well cooked and delicious food of Lebanese cuisine in surroundings that would not look out of place in the Middle East. The cedar tree, you may have gathered, is part of the Lebanese flag and nobody is prouder of that than Chef/Patron Hassan Chahine, whose grandmother must surely have been known as the Mother of All Menus on account of her ability to cook over one thousand dishes, an achievement which has been passed down to Hassan. All dishes are freshly prepared, with Lebanese spices much in evidence, and grilled meats make up most of the main courses. For those sadly familiar with the more grisly manifestations of Lebanese dishes Cedar Tree is a real joy.Cedar Tree is a valuable asset to Manchester city centre. On the drinks front BYO rules, without any corkage or service charge, and backed up with their delightful mango flavoured drinks. Having spent many years supporting the notion of Lebanese cuisine and sometimes ending the evening wondering why, it is a pleasure to encounter Cedar Tree, where what really succeeds is the quality of the food. This was well recognised in 2004 by the Restaurant Remy Award for the Region.

REVIEWS OF Cedar Tree Restaurant
Anon (29 June 2008)
After a forty minute trudge around Manchester, my friend and I decided to try out the Cedar Tree. We were delighted with the look of the place after dismissing over ten other restaurants because of their generic look - no soul! We ordered a bunch of starters and were glad to see a large number of vegetarian dishes. The members of staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere made us feel like we were on holiday and the food was well presented and tasty. I'm a harsh critic of food venues but this place is going to be a regular haunt of mine. Try something different and appreciate a bit of soul food.

I was disappointed by our visit in Feb2008. It was our second visit – our first visit was mediocre and thought we should give it a second chance. We had to wait long for another party to order, even though they arrived after us.
The food was well seasoned but generally inferior. My chicken was barely cooked and the tabouleh had more parsley than bulgar wheat. The restaurant was freezing and we were not offered coffee or desserts. We were charged £3 for credit card and paid £46 for a two course meal for two. The yoghurt and cucumber salad was the highlight of the meal.
