Cellar Door at The Groveland Hotel
18767 Main Street, PO Box 289, Groveland, 95321
In addition to being a romantic getaway, The Groveland Hotel is an ideal pit stop enroute to Yosemite National Park. Snuggle up in one of their delightfully furnished bedrooms and wake to a lazy breakfast next morning. At lunchtime grab a picnic basket from the Cellar Door restaurant before heading out to see the sights around town. The dinner menu is obviously Americanized with whiffs of Asia, so head straight for Humboldt fog goats' cheese with spicy roasted sunflower seeds, or crispy popcorn shrimp with artichoke and red chili tartar sauce. Grilled rare ahi tuna, Australian lamb rack, or grilled 28 day aged filet mignon with fricassée of homemade pastrami, celery root and turnip, and foie gras sauce could follow. In addition to being a romantic getaway, The Groveland Hotel is an ideal pit stop enroute to Yosemite National Park. REVIEWS OF Cellar Door at The Groveland Hotel
Joni Goodman (27 October 2008)
The food at the Groveland Hotel's restaurant is surprisingly good. Groveland is a small gold rush town on the way to Yosemite via highway 120. The locals said the food was great, and believe me, it was. We had a small table by the window and decided to go for appetizers. The spinach, kalamata and goats' cheese pizza was perfect. We then ordered the strip steak and veal Amsterdam. The chef really blew our socks off. We didn't expect such fantastic food in a tiny town. We will definitely make the stop again next time.
