Chandlery Restaurant, The Description

The Chandlery restaurant has been painstakingly restored from a former ship's chandlery, creating a light, airy relaxed place, which serves Modern European cuisine sourced from all the best produce Wales has to offer. It is owned and run by husband and wife team Simon and Jane Newcombe; since its opening in March 2002 the restaurant has featured in all the major guide books, currently holding 2 AA rosettes, a bib gourmand from Michelin and 4/10 in the Good Food Guide.

I have only experienced the lunchtime menu, but it is safe to say that I shall return to sample their a la carte menu. The building itself is beautiful and has a simple decor and has one of the nicest atmospheres I have encountered in a restaurant. The food is superb and the service friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it to friends, both for its value and the excellent cuisine.

It was excellent when it first opened and it has retained the same standards even now. It certainly is still the best restaurant in the area.
