This delightful restaurant is furnished tastefully with a focus on natural lighting and although the arrangement seems formal, the friendly staff help create an atmosphere of welcoming warmth. The à la carte features Modern European and British cuisine with liberal use of seasonal ingredients and there could be a starter of warm mackerel fillet with potato salad, beetroot purée and horseradish cream. A tarragon chicken breast follows, with red pepper and goat cheese croquettes and walnut and rocket pesto and to end, there's a pecan pie with cardamom and ginger ice cream. A selection of British and Irish artisan cheeses with oatcakes is an excellent alternative. The wine list at Charlotte's Place is concise, covering plenty of new and old choices.
