Chautari Description

Chautari must be one of the few places in the West Midlands where you can enjoy genuine Nepalese cuisine, their Head Chef Bijay Gurung previously worked at the Bombay Bicycle Club restaurant for over twelve years where he was responsible for introducing new, delicious and exciting dishes; now he is working that same magic in Lichfield.

I have been to this restaurant four times so far, the first time was when they had just opened and I'm due to go this weekend and can't wait. Every time I go my food is fresh, wonderfully cooked and the service is second to none. The members of staff are so helpful, polite and courteous. The food, though not a vast selection, is very impressive, described and served beautifully and tastes superb. I would recommend this restaurant if you want something that’s extra bit special, because that is exactly what you get.

Chairborne (2 May 2008)

I've visited Chautari twice when I've been in the Birmingham area and this restaurant was recommended by an old forces friend. While the restaurant doesn't serve the Ghurkha classic goat curry, what it does serve is sublime. I’ve never felt hungry, disappointed or ripped off at this place. This is not your typical curry house. The dishes are freshly prepared, and the chicken in the curry that I had was succulent and moist. The sauce was skilfully prepared and it had a wonderfully subtle combination of complementary and contrasting flavours. It was thoroughly enjoyable, indeed. Also, for the quality of cuisine, the prices are very reasonable.
