Cheese Society, The Description
This tiny café - light and airy but yet intimate with a buzzy atmosphere - which only seats twenty four customers, has achieved considerable fame; they are featured as one of Rick Stein's Food Heroes and considered to be an essential stopping point in the BMW Food Ride Guide.
They use seasonal, local (wherever possible) ingredients, while all of their dishes are freshly prepared to a high standard; as the name implies, they specialise in cheese, so they feature many cheese dishes on the menu - however, they do have choices to suit any non-cheese eaters. They offer fixed price 2/3 course lunches from Monday to Friday from their blackboards and have house wines.

We recently visited Lincoln on a short break. We made a point of visiting the cheese shop for lunch, as we are both big cheese eaters. We were not disappointed! The atmosphere was great and the menu amazing, just a shame it does not open for dinners, as we would have gone back for more. My partner had goats cheese risotto and I have twice baked gruyere soufflé, both were delicious. The menu is not just limited to cheese dishes, there is provision on the menu for the carnivores out there, plus the puddings are to die for. To top it all they sell an amazing selection of cheeses to take away, these are also available by mail order. Overall highly recommended.
