Ignore, if you can, the unfortunately-named location of this friendly establishment, which has nothing to do with the nature of the feathered variety on offer at the table.

All tastes are met - there is bar food, a conservatory and a gallery restaurant. Just take your pick. The food tends to be Mediterranean-inspired laced with traditional English and you may encounter sautéed pheasant breast with wild mushroom sauce amongst the many interesting offerings.

Carte menu will cost you under £20.00, house wines at £9.30.

A great country restaurant perfect for special occasions or small groups. A well balanced menu with several excellent dishes. The chef consistently provides high quality delicious food and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed but the service is prompt and professional. Extensive range of puddings. You can eat in a more informal bar instead of the restaurant. I've celebrated several birthdays, anniversaries and even a pre-wedding dinner at Chequers and never been disappointed. Worth the drive.
