Chez la mere Catherine Description

Founded in 1793 by a certain Catherine Lemoine, this restaurant has a place in the history of France. It is said that Danton frequented it and the decoration remains faithful to the traditions with antiquities adorning the rustic rooms and flowery terrace. The cuisine also reflects French culture.

I visited for lunch in February 2009 and it’s not recommended. The food is plain and cooked in advance, but price is that for something of higher standard. Place du Tertre and Montmartre are generally a tourist trap. The way to enjoy them is to consume no more than a drink, coffee or a small snack at one of the cafés. Schedule your visit with an already full stomach.
