Some say Montmartre in general is touristy but I don't care. I loved every minute of being in this area. Sitting outside at La Mere Catherine having 'petit dejuner' was an absolute delight and letting the world go by on a fresh spring morning - pure Paris old style.

I visited for lunch in February 2009 and it’s not recommended. The food is plain and cooked in advance, but price is that for something of higher standard. Place du Tertre and Montmartre are generally a tourist trap. The way to enjoy them is to consume no more than a drink, coffee or a small snack at one of the cafés. Schedule your visit with an already full stomach.
