Chiang Mai
48 Frith Street, London, W1D 4SF
This is considered to be a cut above most of the Thai restaurants in London, and is named after the ancient northern capital of Thailand, a region famed for its rich, spicy foods. Though some people feel that the décor could do with a bit of smartening up these days, there are far more fans than detractors, and they feel that there is much to recommend it. The menu is most enterprising, featuring more unusual dishes as well as the ones that we have all come to expect, with appealing vegetarian choices. The quality of the cooking is also pretty consistent, without the variability that tars some other Thai places. It actually succeeds in making you feel that you are back in Thailand, if you have ever been lucky enough to take a holiday there. This is considered to be a cut above most of the Thai restaurants in London, and is named after the ancient northern capital of Thailand, a region famed for its rich, spicy foods.
