Chicago Curry House

899 South Plymouth Court, Chicago, 60659

Indian cuisine is sometimes maligned for its heavy colors, odors and spices, but here's a restaurant in the South Loop in downtown Chicago which aims to change your mind. They bring delicious and light Indian curries from different regions of Nepal and India, and serve it in a friendly and warm atmosphere, focusing on bringing out the subtleties of flavor and texture. A visit there is also a good opportunity to learn more about Nepalese cuisine which most people mistakenly assume to be another form of Indian fare. There are numerous appetizers to choose from and you might want to try out the famous Nepalese chicken wings, chicken cheola, roasted chicken fillet marinated with ginger garlic and Himalayan spices.

To follow, there's the aloo tama bodi, potatoes, bamboo shoots and black eyed beans cooked with spices, or maybe you could opt for the trusted and tried kormas, saag and curries. Finally, cool your palate with the mango kulfi or fragrant rice kheer. They have numerous fine wines and Indian beers which pair with the food excellently.

Food Man (5 July 2010)

I have been a loyal fan of the Curry House's sister restaurant in Highwood for years now and was very excited to hear that they were opening up another restaurant downtown! I've been down to the Curry House about half a dozen times now and I haven't been disappointed yet. Melt it your mouth chicken makhani, delicious, hot naan, and yummy pakoras combined with great service make this a must for anyone in the South Loop looking for good Indian food!
