Chimes Restaurant Description

Delicious pies, casseroles and puddings, interesting and unusual starters, salads and kitchen treats are all served here. The restaurant offers a great choice of wines, ciders, Perry and fruit wines, all served with friendly enthusiasm in bright country style surroundings, at prices that won't make your eyes water! A private room is available for larger groups.

Every time I visit London, I make time for a meal at Chimes. It's only about 3 blocks from the flat I rent, and it's become my London comfort food. The place is quite comfortable for a single person (me), and I can enjoy the regulars at the front of the place (where the smokers gather) while pleasantly ensconced in the bright back room. Restroom downstairs (not great for those with mobility problems), but for the rest of us, the place is a small gem. As a vegetarian, I particularly welcome the vegetarian pie; the stuffed mushrooms are also tasty. Save room for the bread pudding. Warning: the cider served is hard - i.e., alcoholic -and packs a punch. I usually stick with a single glass of wine or beer, so I can be sure to find my way back to my flat!
