China Garden Description
China Garden is a fashionable and popular restaurant situated near the West Pier within strolling distance of the seafront. It features plush interiors, large spaces and is famous for its Cantonese and Pekinese cuisine.
It's worth arriving early on Saturday and Sunday, when the place gets packed out, to nibble on the highly regarded dim sum. During the day, expect the place to be crowded with local Chinese, tucking into all manner of authentic morsels such as sesame toast, crispy won ton, spare ribs in sticky sauce and fried seaweed with brown sugar.
During the evening customers mill in to enjoy familiar options along the lines of lemon chicken batter fried with sticky lemon sauce, shredded duck with pancakes, paraphernalia, beef in sticky red sauce and mixed vegetables with big prawns and special fried rice.
The service is attentive and friendly and to add a touch of culture to the proceedings they even have a pianist.

Your Reviews of China Garden

I took Mum here for lunch yesterday (23/05/04) to sample the extensive Dim Sum menu. We had five dim sum dishes plus Singapore noodles. Every dish was exquisite. The service was excellent, if anything possibly a little too attentive. Despite the restaurant being almost full, our dishes arrived in good time and not all together which gave us time to sample each before the next arrived piping hot.
The whole meal came to less than £20.00. An excellent lunch for £10.00 a head, what more could you ask for on a sunny Sunday in Brighton.

I recently went to the China Garden with my brother-in-law who frequents it. I come from South Africa and have often raved about the lobster you get in Cape Town. He suggested the China Garden because its speciality is salt and pepper lobster. I was sceptical to say the least. However, the lobster which is dry fried in ginger and soy sauce was so exquisite that we had to order more. We also had salt and pepper squid and aromatic duck; both were delicious. We had the house white which was ice cold and went perfectly well with the lobster. The bill came to £99 but was worth every single penny. I am about to take my clients and boss there tonight.
