Bang opposite the Arcadian Centre, Chung Ying on the corner of Wrottesley Street and Ladywell Walk introduced authentic Cantonese cuisine to the Midlands in 1981 and hasn't looked back since. Popular with both locals and visitors for its diverse and extensive range, its comfortable laid back ambience makes it just the place for a leisurely lunch or dinner.

While most of the dishes cover familiar Cantonese territory, the more esoterically minded could seek out ox tripe, fish heads or steamed pork pie with dried squid. Conventional options include prawn crackers, deep fried chicken wings, spare ribs Peking style, shredded squid and vegetarian spring rolls, for a start. The good food fest continues with sweet and sour pork, fried sliced beef with oyster sauce, crispy fried chicken, barbecued roast duck, fish in black bean sauce, mixed vegetables with cashewnuts and yeung chow fried rice. Of course, you could make a meal of the large dim sum selection, numbering over 100 choices, itself.
