Chung Ying - Wrottesley Street Description

No list of Midlands' eateries could be complete without the granddaddy of all the Chinese places, Chung Ying, situated in the heart of Birmingham's Chinatown, and serving the genuine article, as far as Chinese food is concerned, ever since it opened in 1981. If, like me, you are fond of Dim Sum, you will find a selection almost unparalleled in Britain, and at very reasonable prices as well, though if you go for prawns and lobster then your bill will rise a bit! Most of the dishes cover familiar Cantonese specialities, properly prepared and of a reliable quality, but for the more esoterically minded, you could seek out ox tripe, fish heads or steamed pork pie with dried squid.

Your Reviews of Chung Ying - Wrottesley Street

Meganb (20 October 2009)

We have visited this restaurant in Chinatown several times and it is always our first choice when eating Chinese food in Birmingham. The prices are reasonable, the food and service are excellent, and the dim sum selection is enormous. You will be spoilt for choice. The décor may be a little dated, but don't let that put you off. This is a very good restaurant, especially if you like to lunch on dim sum, and it is very good value.

Kaine Pritchett (10 September 2003)

Overall: 8 out of 10, excellent selection.
