City Cafe at The City Inn - Birmingham

Located in Brindleyplace, City Inn Birmingham has become well-known locally for its stylish interior, quality service and friendly staff and, since opening in March 2001, the 238 room hotel has won critical acclaim. Now, with Head Chef, Neil Peers, at the helm, its 120-cover destination restaurant, City Cafe, is likely to win similar plaudits for its food.

Neil brings a wealth of experience to bear, his first foray into the culinary world began at the early age of 14, working part-time in an Italian restaurant, making fresh pasta. When he finished college, and inspired by his early experience, Neil worked for Peter Griffiths, Director of the Salon Culinaire, where he gained a gold medal for pasta.

Following his first award, Neil's success continued gaining 2 AA rosettes on a number of occasions, while working as a sous chef in the chef's absence, and later maintaining the 2 rosette award held by an exclusive group of hotels, whilst undertaking his first role as head chef.

Diners are encouraged to choose between three modern European menus; the à la carte, the exclusive vegetarian garden menu and the daily changing market menu. With this sort of choice, there's something for all tastes and appetites and, for today's increasingly health conscious diner, those dishes that are low in fat and lighter in calories are indicated with a heart symbol.
