REVIEWS OF Coach & Horses Bistro
Jeff (27 January 2010)
We went to the Bistro last Saturday night. The look of the place both inside and out is contemporary and stylish but also stepping through the door you find that it's also heart-warming and comfortable. The maître d’ was an absolute star and you couldn't ask for a better and cheerful host who makes you feel comfortable and at home. The menu was varied and I would have eaten everything on it, very good choice of dishes. I chose the lamb trio with a fantastic French casserole, shepherd’s pie and breast noisette, and my friend had the cod loin, which looked fabulous with the pea and cured ham sauce. The dessert was a must, the crumble duo with apple pie ice cream - absolutely amazing melting in the mouth flavour combination and well made. The Coach and Horses bistro is a new favourite, thumbs up.

I was looking for a first date venue and wanting to impress in an area I don't know. Got the website up and it looked good and that was to be proved right. From arrival we were looked after in impeccable style, service was unobtrusive and the place is warm, comfortable and fresh-looking despite refurbishment being done two years ago. Wasn't busy on a Sunday lunch and we enjoyed good food from a small but varied menu. The starter, beer battered camembert, was light and complemented by a slightly thin sauce. Beef was succulent and accompanied by just the right amount of fresh vegetables. Puddings had to be considered and the duo of crumble with apple pie ice cream literally melted. Just over £40 without wine from the carefully chosen list was very good value and secured me enough brownie points for date 2 result!
