Coach and Horses, The

The Coach and Horses is tucked away near Farringdon Street and is a popular haunt among locals and visitors alike. This gastro pub has benches in the front with flowers and the interior features wooden panels with art and a moulded ceiling. The dishes on the daily changing menu allow the fresh ingredients to speak for themselves and a variety of local brews and a well chosen wine list welcomes guests.

To start with there is grilled asparagus and chopped duck egg, pickled beetroot with Somerset goats' cheese and old spot sausage with mustard. Mains range from rabbit and wild mushroom pie, grilled onglet steak and turnip remoulade, to summer lasagne. Those who want to order the chef's recommendation can try hot-smoked salmon accompanied by Jersey royals, broad beans and herb butter sauce. Puddings are a real treat with specials such as raspberry ripple ice cream and valrohna chocolate cake appearing on the black board.
