Collingwood, The Description

If you're in West Kirby and in the mood for a reviving morning coffee, a quick working lunch or have time on your hands for a relaxing evening meal, consider visiting the Collingwood, and chances are that you will go back with pleasant memories of good food and drink.

The dining area is stylishly decorated in beige with leather couches and soft lighting while the terraced courtyard is fringed with plants to provide a cosy environment in which to relax, drink or share a meal with friends and family.

The chefs take care to create everything from scratch, so get set to sample some of the best international, modern British and gastropub dishes from a regularly changing menu. The dishes on offer could include game terrine with Chantenay carrot puree; wood pigeon with pommes mousseline and a lentil casserole, and hake served with ox cheek tortellini and a bourguignon garnish. Sundays are easy going and you could spend time enjoying comfort food from the Sunday roast menu.

Well-chosen wines, beers and spirits complete the picture.

I’ve eaten there a couple of times before and since Christmas; it’s a relaxed place with good members of staff. The food was good, not out of this world, but excellent value for money. I will go back whenever in the area in particular when their resident pianist-singer Bernie Fawcett plays on a Friday night. It’s the perfect cool way to relax after a good meal. Keep up the good work, I am told they have the same owners as the Oxton bar in Oxton nearby. I will get back to you all as soon as I have visited that place.
