Columbine Restaurant, The Description

A handsome house in the centre of Buxton with a pretty little restaurant on two floors, one of which is the basement. Efficient, cheerful service means that even if you are in a hurry to get to the opera you will make it in time.

Black olive and sun dried tomato pate makes an excellent starter, to be followed by sautéed supreme of free range chicken stuffed with tiger prawn tails, set on a leek and sherry sauce. The sticky toffee banana cream meringue could be swapped for some of the excellent cheeses, local and English.

Do note that they will open earlier or later for pre-booked theatre suppers.

We recently made a late booking for a pre-theatre dinner and then added two more people to our table at short notice. We had a lovely meal, the staff were very attentive and there were several delicious choices in the menu. The wine list offered a reasonable selection to suit all tastes. We will definitely visit again and will happily recommend The Columbine Restaurant in Buxton.
