Comme Ca Restaurant

67 Broyle Road, Chichester, PO19 6BD

Presumably along the Atlantic coast of France are little outposts of England, serving classic English cuisine, in the same way that Comme Ca delights the English with its totally French presentation on this side of the Channel. It is possible even to feel slightly embarrassed should you have no command of the language. However, like love the language of food is international and to prove it try the Normandy chicken liver pate flavoured with Armagnac and supported by an apple jelly. The grilled fillet of beef it is to be hoped will be English but the Noilly Prat glaze and Roquefort cream sauce derive from elsewhere. House wine is a reasonable £12.95 and the ambience totally French; it is worth noting that they stay open sensible hours for the nearby Theatre.

REVIEWS OF Comme Ca Restaurant

Mr & Mrs Telford (1 March 2009)

Everything about this restaurant is amazing! The staff, the food, the atmosphere and the prices were all fantastic. Our waiter had a great sense of humour, going out of his way to make us feel comfortable. We can't wait to go back in warmer weather so we can eat out on the terrace. Thanks to everyone for a memorable evening.

Mike Dunn (19 February 2007)

Visited as a party of six in February 2007. Cost for three courses plus wine and coffee about £45 a head. Menu of twelve starters and twelve mains, all very French and well cooked and presented. Service good, by amusing waiter. Excellent wine list, some very good value in cheaper ones. Chef clearly knows what he is doing! Two jarring notes: quantities a little small for prices, and had to pay £2.80 each for small dish of vegetables (an annoying "extra" these days!). Atmosphere cosy/semi-rural, nice tables, varied clientele. A good evening, if a little pricey for contents. Return? - Yes, we will, occasionally.
