Conrad at Jamesons
30 Upper Maudlin Street, Bristol, BS2 8DJ
More than a touch of Gallic influence here, in surroundings which by their décor and culinary achievements lay claim to an essentially English cuisine, though painted with a very broad brush. Starters could include a very rich pea and ham broth, smoked salmon and lobster terrine, or roast quail served with a piquant smoked bacon risotto. It is with the main courses that Jameson's really excels, dishes such as whole roast wood pigeon glazed with honey and truffle and served on a cassoulet of white beans, roast rack of lamb with a crab flan and mild curry sabyon or mussels cooked in a gentle coriander chilli and coconut sauce. For pudding try to leave room for the rummer berries and citrus syllabub, a wonderful flavour combination.More than a touch of Gallic influence here, in surroundings which by their décor and culinary achievements lay claim to an essentially English cuisine, though painted with a very broad brush. The wine list is spread well across the world and those on a careful budget will find much to please, whilst others will certainly not be disappointed. Service is well oiled and Jameson's continues to please and feature amongst the top restaurants in Bristol.

REVIEWS OF Conrad at Jamesons
Sean (5 December 2007)
I went there for a business dinner on a Sunday. The food was ok, but not great and service was average.
John Williams (20 May 2007)
Hey - go on holiday for a couple of weeks and when I get back - what a change, Jamesons has been given a complete face lift.
New colours, new art, new lights and I understand a new head chef. But the biggest change is the switch to an ongoing two for one offering making it one if not the best value quality restaurant in Bristol.
The menu is as good as always but now also features sharing dishes and a wider grill selection - I went for the lamb shoulder and finished with the lemon pie in what had to be a quick business lunch but having sampled the new chef’s work and enjoyed the lighter surroundings I will certainly be back for a longer visit. 10 out of 10.
