Contented Vine, The Description

The Contented Vine is a gastro pub that is almost guaranteed to leave you feeling very contented indeed. Situated on Sussex Street in SW1, this friendly pub has chef Alberto Landgraf looking after its food. On the menu you'll find dishes such as goat's cheese salad, spit roasted chicken, excellent fishcakes, as well as good old-fashioned battered fish and chips, or a tender and tasty steak cooked to your liking. Sunday is the day for a traditional roast dinner at The Contented Vine and you'll always find plenty of interesting wines on offer, many of which are available by either the bottle or the glass.

Your Reviews of Contented Vine, The

Laura P (25 February 2008)

I feel compelled to write a review after one of the worst Sunday lunches I've eaten in many years. We found it overpriced, over-rated and over-cooked. The front of house staff were terse to the point of rudeness. My pan-fried cod was cooked to the point of flaccidity and came without the green beans specified on the menu, just a couple of miniscule baby carrots. My lunch partner's pork was cold and he had to ask, when he managed to get someone's attention, for the apple sauce it was supposed to be served with. At no point did any of the staff ask if our meal was okay and generally seemed more interested in a gossip behind the bar than serving customers, which made the 12.50% service charge added to the bill at the end absolutely ludicrous. We felt we could have had better food and service at McDonald's.
