Cook House, The

The Cook House is a pleasing little refuge in Windermere village where customers enjoy the pleasures that are part of this cosy little, family run enterprise. Steve and Louise Marston recently renovated the place into a modern country style bistro.

Steve tries to ensure his ingredients are sourced locally and everything is made fresh to order. Gluten free food is offered as a part of the main menu. Service starts with hearty breakfasts, fresh sandwiches, and goes on to present panini, and jacket potatoes stuffed with delights such as baked beans, prawns, and tuna mayonnaise. Homemade lasagne, Cumberland sausage with mustard mash and black pudding gravy, as well as a range of cakes draw plenty of interest.

An uncomplicated evening menu of four starters, mains and desserts focuses on dishes such as grilled red bream with homemade wine and tartare sauce, and a three cutlet rack of English lamb with Bramley apple mash and crushed peas.
