Cors Restaurant, The Description
How often one hears of locally sourced ingredients, but there are, of course, degrees of locality. At Cors it would hardly be possible to go more local and the results are spectacularly good; black beef, saltmarsh-reared lamb and smoked salmon come to mind. Served, often by the chef himself, against a background of vital colours, which have brought this former vicarage to life, the results are particularly satisfying. A brief but very credible wine list offers outstanding value, mostly below £20, with three house wines at £10.95

Your Reviews of Cors Restaurant, The

Although this restaurant has a good reputation I found it disappointing. Approaching it one immediately sees a ramshackled former vicarage, which had clearly seen better days. The hedges adjoining the drive are in serious need of trimming and the garden holds few visual delights. The interior of the house is rather dingy and the predominantly dark walls would benefit from a lighter, modern décor. We were seated at a table for two in the lightest part of the room near a window. Unfortunately, my wife's view through the window consisted of two calor gas cylinders outside the kitchen. Our starter course was excellent and we anticipated a delightful meal to follow but things went down hill from there. The main course consisted of disappointingly small portions of lamb, although it was reasonably well prepared. The dessert was a total disaster. I had the worst crème brûlée I have ever tasted. Rather than a beautifully caramelised coating I had a very thick covering of what I can only describe as sugar glass, which was virtually impossible to break through. Overall, it was a disappointing, over-priced meal.

My family, friends and I have had the pleasure of dining at the Cors Restaurant several times now. It is a definite favourite of ours. The ambience, service and food is quite outstanding. The gardens are a pleasure to sit in and the whole experience is fabulous. Well worth a visit and excellent value for the standard of food and wine you have.
