Costa's Grill

14 Hillgate Street, London, W8 7SR

Established in 1957 by Mr and Mrs Costa, Costa's Grill was one of the first Greek restaurants to open in London. The venue started with one room, and quickly became a popular spot for locals and residents and eventually expanded to include two additional rooms and a garden restaurant. The restaurant continues to serve authentic Greek cuisine to its guests in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Some of the traditional offerings on the menu include tzatziki - yogurt, cucumber, olive oil and mint dip, with pita bread, avocado with prawns or taramosalata, and deep fried squid rings. Moussaka - layers of sliced potatoes, aubergines, tomatoes and minced lamb topped with a béchamel sauce, fried meatballs with herbs and spices, and chicken pilaf, with fried onions, mushrooms and rice are some enticing options that feature frequently on the bill of fare.

REVIEWS OF Costa's Grill

Val (7 July 2010)

Loved Costa’s Grill! We had just arrived in London and wanted to go to Notting hill for the evening as staying close by in Bayswater and wanted easy travelling, which it was. We came across Costa’s just by chance and so glad we did as we were shown a lovely little table for two outside, under vines galore - so beautiful and in keeping with the Greek theme. Being such a hot evening, we enjoyed the courtyard and vines. The food was wonderful and we look forward to coming back next time in London. The service was also lovely and the staff were left a generous tip as a result of their friendliness and first class service. Well done to Mr. and Mrs. Costa for keeping their little gem of a restaurant in keeping with all its old fashioned charm and character. When I come back, hoping it will be kept the same, as so many restaurants just look same these days. And I find that boring, please don’t change a thing! Many thanks to you all for a lovely eating experience at Costa’s Grill in Notting hill.

Being Greek, I didn’t think I would find anywhere in London that served proper Greek food, but the food was extremely good, I went with my family who all seemed to think the same. It was just like being back in Greece again, good Greek traditional food, well priced and good value for money! The staff were extremely friendly too! Granted that the decor may be a bit dated but this does not affect the quality of the food or the service!

This family run restaurant has been around since well before any of the modern restaurants in London... a nice, friendly, well run family restaurant which is well worth going to! Bear in mind if you are going at night or the weekend…..you will probably have to book a table because it gets quite busy from my experience….give it a try!
