Cottons - Camden Description

Caribbean influences abound in this tropical restaurant on Chalk Farm Road in Camden, and you will not be surprised to note that it is one of those places where you can let your hair down and have great food too. Perfect for a night out with friends, at Cottons you can also drop in at Jamaica, their cool and trendy bar where they serve more than 270 kinds of rums from all over the world.

The menu is a tribute to the glorious West Indies where starters of salt fish fritters with spiced apple chutney and mixed leaves could be followed by Cottons mixed jerk fish of parrot fish, king fish, tilapia and red snapper served with rice and peas, fried plantain and jerk sauce. For dessert, there's sheer decadence in the form of a chocolate brownie with black cherries marinated in kirsch and pistachio ice cream and a wide range of cocktails and wines apart from the rums.

I have visited Cottons on several occasions, twice in the last two months, and every time I'm impressed with the service and the gorgeous food I order. I'm glad I have this opportunity to tell them what a fantastic job they are doing, I'll be visiting again on Saturday, this time for lunch.

We live in Bucks and decided to go and eat in Cottons. I have eaten there before and never had any complaints, but that evening I am not sure who the chef was. It was the worst curried goat I have ever had. My plate was full of mainly bones and fat. I did complain to the waitress, but paid the bill in full, which I really regret doing. I am not sure if I would recommend them, or go back.
